What is your cancellation policy?

If you are unable to attend, the registration fee is greatly appreciated as a donation.
Can I register more than one diver?
-
Yes, although gift receipts will be issued to the individual making the gift. If you would like to recruit participants, register as a Club! Your club will be added to the registration dropdown, to add a club please email: admin@catalinadiverssupply.com
How do I choose a dive location?

Choose from dropdown at time of registration:

Green Pier – Easiest (beach entry)

Step Beach – More difficult (stair entry)

Casino Point – Most difficult (stair or wall entry)

Is it necessary for me to have a dive buddy?
-
Yes – You can get paired up on the day of the event - just speak to the dive master when you register.
Can we dive from our boat?
-
No – ALL divers must check in and out of the water from land – No exceptions.
Can we use rebreathers?
-
No – We must be able to track divers at all times. It is an active harbor and tracking is imperative. Only open circuit is allowed.
Is there transportation for our dive gear?
-
Yes! We will have volunteers the day of to transport gear from the mole (only 1st boat that morning) to the different locations. Transportation is also available through Catalina Taxi and Tours.
Are all dive agencies recognized?

Yes – As long as we can verify the agency – all are accepted (If there is doubt please ask prior to the day of the event).
Can I rent gear for the day of the dive?

Yes – A full assortment of scuba equipment, tanks and weight belts are available on the Island. We recommend that you reserve gear in advance. Click here for details.
Do I need to bring a bag to collect trash or do you supply them?

Yes – Please bring a game bag or other type bag to collect the trash you find.
How do I travel to Avalon?

The vast majority of our divers travel to and from Avalon aboard the Catalina Express. The week prior to the event you will receive a coupon which will give you $7.50 off the Catalina Express round-trip price.

You may also bring you own boat over and arrange a mooring through the Avalon Harbor Master, however Cleanup diving is not allowed from your boat (ALL divers must check in and out of the water from land – No exceptions).

Can I register the day of the event?
-
Yes – of course you can. Registration opens at 7:30am and closes at 8:45am at Wrigley Stage. The registration fee is $65.00.
When can I pick up my t-shirt?
-
After presenting registration forms at a registered dive site, you will receive your wristband(s). Wristbands must be worn for the dive and must be punched by a divemaster after exiting the water. The wristband may then be exchanged for your shirt at Wrigley Stage after 10:00 am. If you register the morning of the event, you may collect your shirt at Wrigley Stage after 1:00 pm.
Can I change dive locations?

For diver safety, all divers’ locations and check-in/out procedures are set the week before the event. For this reason, you must change sites no later than February 17th. ​

How long is the event?

Check-in for pre-registered divers opens at the dive sites at 7:00- 8:45am. If you waited till the day of the event, registration is located at the Wrigley Stage.

Dive is from 9:00am - 11:00am

Awards Ceremony is from 1:00pm - 3:00pm
Do I get to keep what I find?

Generally, yes, however if you find something of value that should be returned, the rightful owner is always appreciative! (ie: wallets, credit cards or other valuables deemed appropriate)
How can I win a prize?​

Raffle – Purchase raffle tickets the day of the event on Wrigley Stage from 7:00am - 1:00pm (A host of prizes donated each year are raffled off and you MUST be present to win)
What if it rains?
-
We plan to dive rain or shine. Only the Harbor Master can postpone the dive for safety reasons.
Do I have to dive in the event to participate?
-
Not at all.

You can be a support for your diver on land and get a t-shirt for a non-diver fee of $30.00.

You can volunteer and assist at one of the dive locations (free t-shirt for your efforts).

Recruit your friends, whether they dive or not!

Can I use a lift bag to lift heavy items off the bottom?
-
No lift bags allowed at this event. If you feel the need to inform us of an item’s location, safely mark the spot and inform the dive master who will, in turn, inform the appropriate persons for safe removal of that item.
Is there a maximum depth and range for the dive?
-
Maximum depth is 40 feet and no further out than the end of the pier or 4 mooring cans out. Please read the safe diving practices form for detailed safety instructions and attend the mandatory safety briefing prior to the dive the day of the event (9:00am at your dive site).
What if I find an octopus or other living creature in my trash?

Ask for assistance from any of the volunteer staff or gently remove it with your gloves on and place it back in the water.
How can I support the event if I can't attend or wish to do more?

How cold is the water that time of year?

The normal temp usually ranges in the low to mid 60s so please dress appropriately.
